As part of its strategy to enhance its operated assets, SNPC has signed technical assistance agreements with Unite Oil & Gas International (UOGI) and National Energy Services Reunited (NESR). Together, the three companies form the “Sun Team,” dedicated to developing a comprehensive asset valuation strategy in a project mode to support the General Management’s vision.
In parallel, new geological and seismic studies have been conducted jointly on new hydrocarbon areas, represented by the several permits.
SNPC, along with Eni Congo and Lukoil, signed a contract in September 2023 for the sale of liquefied natural gas (LNG) with Eni SPA.
The Marine XII permit, awarded to SNPC under the Republic of Congo’s gas development policy, has led to the discovery of four gasfields: Litchendjili, Néné-Banga, Nkala, and Minsala. This partnership aims to facilitate approximately $5 billion in investments for the Marine XII LNG project, which will include the offshore installation of two floating liquefaction units with capacities of 600,000 and 2,400,000 metric tons per year.
The downstream oil segment includes refining, petrochemicals, transportation, storage, and marketing of products. SNPC manages activities such as coordinating the transport, storage, refining, and marketing of petroleum products, exploring to enhance product value, monitoring international market prices, and ensuring a stable supply for the country.

For distribution, SNPC holds a 90% stake in SNPC Distribution, a 30% stake in SNAT (a fuel distributor), and a 20% stake in SOCOGAZ, which handles domestic gas transportation and marketing.
The Congolaise de Raffinage (CORAF), established in 1982, is the Republic of Congo’s sole refinery. Located in Pointe-Noire, it processes crude oil into marketable products like butane, gasoline, kerosene, light diesel, and heavy fuel oil, supplying around 70% of the country’s needs with a capacity of 1.2 million tons per year. The crude is sourced from the Djéno terminal via a 25 km pipeline.
SNPC plans to construct a petroleum transportation pipeline, including the proposed Pointe-Noire-Maloukou-Oyo-Ouesso pipeline. This initiative aims to enhance energy access throughout the country, creating a more interconnected network for the distribution of petroleum products and supporting economic growth in various regions.
Five types of crude oil from the Republic of Congo are marketed internationally: Diéno blend, Nkossa blend, Nkossa butane, Nkossa propane, and Yombo. The state’s share of production from production-sharing contracts is sold by SNPC.
To enhance its capabilities, SNPC established a new wholly-owned subsidiary, SNPC TRADING, in Singapore in 2019, specializing in the marketing of liquid and gas hydrocarbons in international markets.
The Gas Master Plan aims to convert Congo’s gas potential into a new growth source for the national economy. SNPC is also focusing on natural hydrogen and helium, with advanced exploration efforts in these areas.
These less-polluting resources are integral to the company’s decarbonization strategy, which seeks to reduce its carbon footprint and comply with the Republic of Congo’s climate change commitments.
SNPC is actively involved in environmental initiatives like the Eco Zamba project, launched in 2023, aimed at reforesting 50,000 hectares in the Batéké Plateaus. This initiative seeks to capture carbon, restore local ecosystems, and provide economic opportunities for surrounding communities. The Eco Zamba project positions SNPC as a pioneer in Africa for sustainability, aligning with the Performance 2025 program-a roadmap for becoming a greener, more resilient energy player.
SNPC Group Foundation is the primary vehicle for the company’s social and educational initiatives. In 2023, the Foundation enhanced its role by supporting significant community projects, such as constructing educational and healthcare infrastructure. The Tchiminzi school complex, inaugurated in October 2024, spans 26 hectares and provides modern facilities for Congolese students from preschool to middle school.
SNPC also spearheads various vocational training initiatives for young Congolese. In November 2023, it opened the Antoine Ndinga high school in Oyo, accommodating 480 students in classrooms and 300 in boarding. This modern school focuses on technical and industrial education aligned with the oil sector’s needs.
Additionally, SNPC provided scholarships to nine Congolese students aged 17 to 22 to pursue engineering studies in petrochemicals or geology for five years at Bakou Higher Oil School in Azerbaiian.
SNPC believes that professional training is essential to ensure that its workforce aligns with the company’s development strategies and maintains long-term performance.
In 2023, SNPC conducted over 1,006 training sessions for its employees, strengthening its human capital to meet future challenges. These initiatives demonstrate the company’s commitment to developing local talent while promoting sustainable growth for future generations.
